Newington Obituary: Peter Pawelczyk, 60

Peter J. Pawelczyk, 60, of Newington, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dawnmarie (Schmidt) Pawelczyk for 23 years.

Born in New Britain, son of Joseph Pawelczyk of Bristol and the late Anita (Sani) Pawelczyk, he was raised in Bristol and lived in Wethersfield until moving to Newington in 1995. Peter had an interest in World History, was a Patriots fan and had a keen intellect for NY Times crossword puzzles.

Along with his devoted and caring wife, he leaves his four siblings, Mary Greene and her husband Michael of Bristol, Jamie Pawelczyk of Bristol, Lori Catullo and Robert Eshoo of New Britain, and Roberta Stephens and her husband Michael of SC. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Rosemarie Schmidt, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and canine companion Zaley. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, William J. Schmidt, Jr. and his beloved canine Jessie.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 18th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. His funeral service will be held on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
