Newington Obituary: Vincent Carey, 58

Vincent Carey, 58, of Tamarac, FL, formerly of Newington died on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016 at home.

Born in Hartford, son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Eddy) Carey, he lived in Newington for most of his life. Vincent worked for the State of Connecticut, Judicial Services Dept. for many years. Vinny served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, playing the blues on his harmonica and was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his daughter Sylvia Carey and Jay Sheth, his son Edward Carey, all of Meriden, his sisters and brother: Judith Carey, of Willington, Cathy See and her husband Weston of Coventry, Suzanne Sablosky of Willington, Frank Carey and his wife Susan of Myrtle Beach, SC, Stella Henderson of Newington, his step-mother Carol Carey of Wethersfield and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Michael Sablosky.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, 10:30 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Church. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
