
Zofia Kusy, 69, of Enfield, beloved wife for 36 years of the late Michael Kusy, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 19, 2016.
Born in Jelna, Poland on May 14, 1947, daughter of the late Antoni and Bronislawa (Waskiewicz) Kowal, she immigrated to the United States in 1978, arriving in Hartford, settling in Newington, and most recently living in Enfield.
She leaves three sons, Jan Kusy and his wife Jolanta of Enfield, Stanley Kusy of New Britain, and Martin Kusy of New Britain; two daughters, Margaret Braren and her husband Paul of Wethersfield, and Elizabeth Schwarz and her husband Gary of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother, Jan Kowal of Poland; five sisters, Maria Zalot and her husband Stanley of Newington, Kazimiera Rykala and her husband Edward of Poland, Janina Kuczek and her husband Stanislaw of Poland, Emilia Kosek of Stafford Springs, and Katarzyna Kowal of Newington; ten grandchildren, Michael Kusy and his fiancé Christina Hayden, Monika Kusy, Alexander Kusy, Gabriela Kusy, Andrew Braren, Timothy Braren, Carly Christopfel, Joshua Schwarz, Jacob Schwarz, and Jace Kusy; and two great grandchildren, Hayden Kusy and Kayla Christopfel. She also leaves Carol Gonzalez who was like a daughter to her, and Leonora Kominek, her dear friend for 36 years. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Jozef and Mieczyslaw Kowal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 24, 10:30 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 61 Popieluszko Court, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. There are no calling hours.
