Newington Parks And Rec: Reserve A Community Garden Plot

Community Gardens are open to Newington residents.

With warmer weather just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about safe and productive outdoor activities that you can be a part of. Why not reserve a Community Garden plot through the Newington Parks and Recreation Department for the upcoming gardening season? The Community Gardens are located next to the Deming Young Farm property at 282 Church Street in Newington. Please be aware that the Community Gardens are open to Newington residents only.

Garden plot sizes are 20 x 20 feet and will be roto-tilled and marked by the Town. Gardening guidelines are available at the Parks and Recreation office and on our website at www.newingtonct.gov/parksandrec. The planting date will be dependent on soil and weather conditions but is anticipated to be Memorial Day. Water will be available for gardeners but please bring your own containers. The fee for each garden plot is $35. Register in the Parks and Recreation office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by utilizing our curbside drop-off, fax number, or mail-in option.

Returning gardeners may reserve their garden plot any time before Friday, March 26, 2021. Registration for new gardeners begins at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call the Parks and Recreation office at 860-665-8666 for more information.
