Newington Police Seeking Assault Suspect

The suspect appears on surveillance video grabbing a victim from behind and throwing him to the ground, rendering him unconscious.

NEWINGTON, CT — Newington police are seeking assistance in identifying a suspect in a vicious assault last week at a gas station in town.

The assault took place March 8 around 10:30 p.m. at the Mobil gas station at 50 Fenn Road. A light-skinned, possibly Hispanic male with facial hair wearing a dark colored coat and tan pants was seen on security surveillance footage exiting the Mobil convenience store and lunging towards the victim, police said.

The defenseless victim was in his own personal vehicle with his back toward the suspect, who grabbed the victim, threw him to the ground and caused him to hit his head on the pavement, knocking him unconscious. The suspect looked at the victim, who was on the ground in need of medical aid, walked around the back of the victim’s vehicle and left in what appeared to be a silver-colored sedan, possibly a Toyota Avalon, according to police.
