Newington, South Windsor to Meet in Boys Volleyball Finals
The Indians and Bobcats will meet for the Class M championship Thursday night in Plainville.

WEST HARTFORD/WATERBURY, CT — For the fourth straight year, the Class M boys volleyball champion will be either South Windsor or Newington, as the two schools from Hartford County advanced to the championship match with semifinal victories Tuesday.
Defending champion South Windsor, the seventh seed, defeated No. 6 Farmington 3-2 at Conard High School. Game scores were 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 16-25 and 15-6.
At Kennedy High School in Waterbury, fourth-seeded Newington upset top-seeded Joel Barlow by a 3-1 margin. Game scores were 28-26, 11-25, 25-22 and 25-18.

The Bobcats and Indians will meet for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m. at Plainville High School.
South Windsor won the title, its first, in 2016, after Newington had claimed the crown the previous two years.

A third Hartford County school will also be playing for a state championship Thursday, as No. 4 East Hartford shut out top-seeded Cheshire 3-0 in a Class L semifinal matchup Tuesday at Conard. Game scores were 27-25, 25-12 and 25-13.
The Hornets will take on No. 2 Darien in the finals Thursday at 6 p.m. at East Haven High School.
