Pedestrian Seriously Hurt After Newington Accident: Police

Police are investigating an accident Monday night in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

NEWINGTON, CT — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in Newington Monday night.

According to the Newington Police Department, officers were called to the area of Richard Street and Willard Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

Police said the pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for "serious injuries."

The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police, wrote the NPD in a statement.

The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is currently investigating the incident.
