Police Seeking Newington Seafood Thief

The man was captured on surveillance video stealing food at Stew Leonard's, and police are seeking assistance in identifying him.

NEWINGTON, CT — Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who stole seafood at the Stew Leonard's store last week.

On Feb. 24, the man entered the grocery store, and within five minutes, he was observed getting a bag from the pet section, filling it with $130 worth of salmon and swordfish, and leaving the premises, police said.

The suspect left alone in the pictured vehicle, which appears to be a dark green or black SUV, possibly a Mercedes, police said.

The suspect appears to be a middle-aged white or Hispanic male with a tattoo on his right tricep, police said.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Officer Apanovitch at aapanovitch@newingtonct.gov and reference CFS# 17-4158.
