Woman Dead After Standoff at Newington Residence

NEWINGTON, CT — Police are investigating the circumstances under which a local woman was found dead in a home and a man was taken into custody.

Police Chief Stephen Clark said a male suspect, presumed by police to be the husband of the victim, was taken to a local hospital in police custody after the unidentified female was discovered.

The man, who has not been identified, was also found inside the residence, suffering from injuries, police said.

Early reports indicated a flurry of police activity at a Gilbert Road residence.
