Update: Missing Newington Girl Is Home

NEWINGTON, CT — Local police were looking for a 15-year-old Newington girl described as an "endangered runaway," but they said Thursday afternoon she has been found and is safe.

According to a state Silver Alert issued at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Newington police were looking for the girl, a white female with brown hair and brown eyes.

The Newington Police Department also issued an alert at about 8:50 a.m. Thursday asking for the public's help, also posting a photograph of the young girl.

At 1:56 p.m., however, the NPD said the alert was canceled and she is safe.

"She has been returned home safely. Thank you to our community partners for your assistance," the NPD said via Twitter.
