Training Grenade Causes Newington Evacuation
The grenade was determined not to be a threat. Several businesses were evacuated.
NEWINGTON, CT — A training grenade found in the garbage at LA Fitness caused an evacuation Thursday morning.
An employee was emptying the garbage in front of the gym when he noticed what appeared to be a grenade with the pin still intact, according to WFSB.
Several nearby businesses were evacuated, according to WTNH.

The Hartford Bomb Squad determined the grenade wasn't a threat. The area was opened again after 9 a.m.
