Newington Cops Catch Accused Car Burglars: Police
The suspects, one from Hartford and another from New Britain, are partners in a car burglary operation, according to police
NEWINGTON, CT — Local police Monday reported the weekend arrest of a Hartford man and a New Britain man after police said they caught the duo trying to break into a car in town.
According to a release issued Monday afternoon by the Newington Police Department, officers at 4:54 a.m. Saturday were notified via "an alert resident" of two males attempting to break in to his locked vehicle on Hartford Avenue.
Newington police responded to the area and located Artemis Sims, 37, of New Britain, and Daniel Pohl, 21, of Hartford, nearby, according to the NPD.

Police said Pohl was charged with third-degree burglary; sixth-degree larceny; conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary; conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny; and illegal possession of more than 1.5 ounces of marijuana.
Sims, meanwhile, was charged with third-degree burglary; third-degree larceny; two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary; conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny; and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Both were held on $20,000 bonds and were to be arraigned Monday in New Britain Superior Court.
Police said the duo worked together frequently on such operations.
"Newington officers were able to establish information that Pohl and Sims worked together to steal items from inside of numerous unlocked vehicles," wrote police in a statement.
In addition, police issued words of warning to anyone with cars.
"The Newington Police Department would like to remind residents to lock car doors overnight," the NPD said.
