Two Charged In Smash-And-Grab At Newington Stereo Store: Police

The incident happened on Jan. 14 at a business on the Berlin Turnpike.

NEWINGTON, CT — Two New Britain residents have been charged in connection with a Jan. 14 smash-and-grab burglary that saw a vehicle being driven through a large window into a local business.

The Newington Police Department Thursday said the men were charged with driving a vehicle into the New England Audio and Tinting building, 2441 Berlin Turnpike.

Charged in connection with the incident, according to police, were Pasquale Sanseverino, 49, and Michael Rivera, 42, both from New Britain.

Police said Sanseverino and Rivera were each charged with two counts of third-degree burglary; two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary; second-degree larceny; conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny; first-degree criminal mischief; and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief.

Rivera was taken into custody Monday, March 25, while Sanseverino was taken into custody Thursday, March 28, police said.

Both were being held on a $100,000 bond, with Rivera arraigned in New Britain Superior Court Tuesday, March 26, and Sanseverino arraigned Thursday, March 28, according to the NPD.

According to police, the vehicle they were in was deliberately crashed into the business, breaking the front area glass.

The two men, according to police, then entered the building through the broken window and stole stereo equipment from the store.
