NEW LONDON, CT — A woman was hospitalized after crews rescued her from the Thames River on Monday, according to fire officials.
At 4:14 p.m., a call came in reporting a woman in the water.
Firefighters found the woman swimming toward a Hamilton Street establishment.
Crews used an inflatable rescue boat and received assistance from a nearby private boater in the rescue.
Crews safely brought the woman to shore. She was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
"This incident highlights that our mission includes any threat to life safety and truly reflects the all-hazards approach our firefighters take every day," fire officials said in a statement.
