Officers arrived at that address and found that a vehicle had also been stolen that had a 6-year-old child in it.

Police were able to quickly locate the vehicle with the assistance of public safety cameras. They found the vehicle abandoned on Jay Street a short while later. The child was inside and was unharmed, police said.

An investigation led to the arrest of Sean Quintero, 38, of Norwich. He was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

“This was a rapidly evolving and extremely serious incident involving the safety of a young child,” Police Chief Brian Wright said in a statement. “I commend the quick response and coordinated efforts of our officers, dispatch personnel, and Norwich Police Department. Their swift actions helped ensure the child was located unharmed and that a suspect was taken into custody.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
