NEW LONDON, CT — Police are investigating a shots fired incident in New London.
At 12:56 a.m. officers patrolling the downtown area heard what was believed to be several gunshots near South Water and Golden streets, police said. Officers additionally received reports that individuals possibly involved had fled the area on foot, police added.
Officers responded and found items of evidence supporting shots fired in an alleyway between Golden and South Water streets, police said. Several shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Members of the New London Police Department's Investigative Services Section responded.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Based on preliminary investigation, this incident does not appear to be a random act, police said.
The investigation remains active.
