NEW LONDON, CT — Two boats caught fire at a New London marina on Thursday morning, according to fire officials.
The incident occurred at Burr's Marina at 5:05 a.m.
The affected boats were moored about 300 feet down the marina's main pier. Two boats caught fire and another two were heavily damaged by radiant heat. The main pier was also damaged as a result of this fire.
One of the boats had to be removed from the water to prevent it from sinking.
Firefighters used multiple hose lines from the pier to extinguish the blaze. Fire boats from neighboring departments were used to help extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Crews had just finished extinguishing a blaze at a multi-family home when the boat fire broke out before 5 a.m.
