Fire Marshal Provides Updates On Investigations Into 6 Blazes In New London

NEW LONDON, CT — The New London Fire Marshal's Office said that there is no evidence that the six fires reported recently are linked.

One of those fires led to the death of an elderly couple.

The fires occurred from July 13 to July 20.

"Investigators have determined that there is no evidence indicating these incidents are connected," a statement from fire officials reads.

The fires were as follows:

• A kitchen fire at a Hope Street home July 13
• A shed fire at a Broad Street home July 13 due to discarded smoking material
• A shed fire at a Vauxhall Street address July 15
• A second-alarm residential fire at a Colman Street residential building July 15
• A boat fire off of Pequot Avenue July 16
• A second-alarm residential fire at a Chapel Street address in which two people died

Thus far, there has been no criminal activity found in any of the incidents.
