Teen Charged For Fake Crack & Counterfeit Money

New London Police charged an 18-year-old with trying to sell fake crack and with forgery for hundreds in counterfeit money.

NEW LONDON, CT—He turned 18 in June. Now he's charged by police for trying to sell fake crack cocaine and for having hundreds in counterfeit money. Tuesday afternoon, as part of its "quality of life," initiative, New London Police arrested Devonte Jones near Blackhall and Belden Streets. Connecticut online judicial records spell his first name Devante.

Police charged him with misrepresentation of a controlled substance, which was fake rock cocaine. He also was charged with first-degree forgery in connection with several hundred dollars in counterfeit money.

Jones, of 79 Boulder Drive, New London, celebrated his 18th birthday June 1.

Court records show he was released on a "promise to appear" and is due back in court on Aug. 20.
