"My sister's longtime boyfriend and father of her two children did not make it due to his injuries. My nephew will make a full recovery with lots of speech therapy and regular therapy and doctor visits. My sister cannot work at this time for a while so that she may take care of her son and daughter at home. She was the sole money maker of this family and has to take a leave from work to make sure that Mason makes a full recovery. There is no life insurance," James wrote on the fundraising page.
Matthew Bigbie and his son were taken to Danbury Hospital and Mason was later transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.
