The building's roof suffered the majority of the damage. Flames could be seen coming out of the top of the school, according to NBC CT.

The school was replacing an asphalt-shingle roof with a metal seamless roof. The damage to the building appears to be mostly due to smoke and water damage, but a structural assessment will be done in the near future, NBC CT reported.
