NEW MILFORD, CT — A female motorist is accused of driving 105 miles per hour while she was under the influence, according to police.
Police said officers observed a vehicle traveling at that speed and then conducted a traffic stop on June 6.
The driver, identified as Rosa Chauca, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, reckless driving, speeding, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Chauca was released after posting bond, and she is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Torrington on June 18. Police did not release her age or address.
The case prompted police to issue a message of caution to motorists.
“As the summer months approach and traffic volumes increase, the New Milford Police Department reminds motorists to drive responsibly and obey all traffic laws,” the department said, in announcing Chauca’s arrest.
“Excessive speed and impaired driving continue to be significant factors in serious motor vehicle crashes,” police added.
