NEW MILFORD, CT — New Milford Community Ambulance will receive funding through FirstLight’s 2026 FirstLight Sustains grant program to buy two IV infusion pumps for its active fleet, the company announced June 29.

FirstLight said the competitive grant program supports schools, municipalities and nonprofit organizations in areas where the company operates in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Over the past four years, the program has awarded more than $310,000 to nearly 70 organizations, according to the company.

New Milford Community Ambulance was one of 17 organizations selected for funding this year. FirstLight said the grants support projects involving public safety and services, outdoor recreation, environmental education and community improvements.

Andy Brydges, FirstLight’s director of community relations, said in the release that the program drew strong interest in its fourth year.

“It is an honor to support organizations making a meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work,” Brydges said. “This year’s grants reflect our continued commitment to sustainability and community enrichment, supporting efforts in areas like environmental education, public safety, accessibility, and vital social services.”

FirstLight said its grant review committee prioritizes projects in two categories: climate action and education, and community building. The community-building category includes public safety enhancements, public art, placemaking and community-driven services.

FirstLight is based in Burlington, MA, and has an operating office in New Milford, according to the company.
