New Milford Town Meeting To Consider $803K In Capital Reserve Spending

NEW MILFORD, CT — Voters will be asked to approve more than $803,000 in capital reserve funding for equipment purchases and facility improvements across several town departments during a Special Town Meeting on Monday, Aug. 24.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the E. Paul Martin Room on the upper level of Town Hall. According to the meeting warning issued by Mayor Pete Bass, electors and others qualified to vote at Town Meeting will consider whether to appropriate $803,194.77 from the town's Capital Reserve Fund for seven projects.

The proposed appropriations include $6,000 for security camera upgrades at Lynn Deming Park, $18,125 for an HVAC controller at the New Milford Ambulance barn and $74,069.77 for a vehicle for the New Milford Police Department.

The largest requests are for the Public Works Department. Voters will be asked to approve $300,000 for a plow truck, $143,000 for Century Brass environmental compliance required under federal and state guidance, $120,000 for an undercarriage vehicle wash system for the current wash bay, $50,000 for a pickup truck and $50,000 for a facilities vehicle.

The agenda also includes a request to appropriate $42,000 for a deputy fire marshal vehicle.
