Danbury PD Charge New Milford Man for Drugs, Risk of Child Injury

The investigation was initiated after police received citizen complaints regarding suspicious activity.

NEW MILFORD, CT - Police arrested a New Milford man for drug offenses and risk of injury to a child.

Today, Danbury police executed a search and seizure for the person, car and phone of Ryan Santos, 25, of 5 High Street in New Milford. Santos had been the focus of a several weeks-long investigation related to drug sales throughout the Danbury area, police said in a release. The investigation was initiated after police received citizen complaints regarding Santos’ alleged illegal activity.

Police established a surveillance of Santos and his vehicle earlier today, and moved in to make an arrest shortly after 1 p.m. after watching him engage in suspicious activity. Police followed Santos to the drive-through of a local bank, and apprehended him before he was able to make a transaction. As they did so, they noticed a toddler in a child safety seat, located in the rear passenger area.

Police found Santos to be in possession of heroin packaged for sale, a substantial amount of U.S. currency and drug paraphernalia during a subsequent search of his car. He was transported to police headquarters in Danbury and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell less than a half-ounce of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and risk of injury to a child. He is being held on a cash bond.

The vehicle was towed from the area and the child turned over to Danbury's Department of Children and Families.
