NEW MILFORD, CT — Firefighters extinguished a blaze on Railroad Street on Thursday night, according to a Facebook post from Water Witch Hose #2 of New Milford. The caller in the mixed occupancy building smelled something burning at around 9:30 p.m.
Firefighters found heavy fire venting from a second-floor apartment at the rear of the building.
The fire crew made a quick knockdown of the fire while additional help was called from Northville, Gaylordsville, and Brookfield.

Crews checked for extension and searched the entire building for occupants. Firefighters rescued a dog from an adjacent unit.
