Hang Glider Crashes in New Milford
Firefighters needed help from an arborist to get the pilot down from the trees where he crashed.

NEW MILFORD, CT — A hang glider crashed into trees in New Milford on Saturday. The pilot was unharmed, fire department officials reported.
The call came into the police around 2:30 p.m., and first arriving units found the glider to be about 50 feet off the ground with the pilot still restrained and uninjured, according to a report from Water Witch Co. #2 in New Milford. The ground around the area above which the glider was suspended proved too soft for the firefighters to deploy their tower equipment, so a call was put into Emmons Tree and Landscaping, on Norton Lane.
"Arriving by police escort, Shawn (Emmons) quickly went to work using his expertise as an arborist, climber, rigger, and rescuer to deliver the pilot to the ground unharmed," Water Witch officials posted on social media.
