Housatonic Valley Association Receives Grant from Local Business

Canoe and kayak paddlers in New Milford will find it a little easier to launch into the Still and Housatonic rivers.

NEW MILFORD, CT -- Canoe and kayak paddlers in New Milford will find it a little easier to launch into the Still and Housatonic rivers, thanks to a $2,500 grant to the Housatonic Valley Association grant from Big Y World Class Markets.

Last year, HVA completed a public access area with a boat ramp on the Still River next to the Animal Control shelter on Erickson Road. A portion of the grant will be used to beautify and add to the ramp’s pollution-preventing buffer of native plants.

“HVA is grateful to Big Y World Class Markets for the company’s support of our mission,” said HVA Development Director, Richard Sears in a release. “It’s wonderful to see local businesses giving back to the community and the local environment.”
