New Milford to Become More Canoe, Kayak-Friendly
The Town Council has approved spending about $1,900 to purchase a YAKport.

NEW MILFORD, CT -- For canoers and kayakers, getting there may be half the fun, but getting into the water is no day at the beach. But paddlers in New Milford will have any easier time launching their crafts into the Housatonic River soon, now that the Town Council has approved spending about $1,900 to purchase a YAKport.
Made of UV protected polyethylene, YAKports affix to the sides of docks and cradle a canoe or kayak in place while its pilot climbs aboard.
The new plastic port will be placed on the fishing dock along Young’s Field.
