New Milford to Collect New Fines for False Alarms and Inspections
The ordinance was amended to replace a "no response" penalty for late payment with the possibility of a lien being placed on the property.
NEW MILFORD, CT —The Town Council has approved a new regulation which levies fines on residents who have repeated false alarms and those who refuse or ignore notices to allow officials to inspect their properties, the News Times is reporting.
Two false alarms will cost homeowners $50. The penalty for three is $100, and $150 for four. The alarms are tallied across a 12-month period, and police and fire alarms are counted separately.

The new inspection ordinance charges a $200 fine and associated costs to the homeowner for any town employee forced to go to Superior Court to obtain a search warrant so tin order that the fire marshal can inspect a home.
The fines are expected to take effect in about a month.
