NEW MILFORD, CT — The high school literary magazine has received a national honor.

The New Milford High School English department has announced that the National Council of Teachers of English has given a "superior" ranking to the 2018 student literary magazine, The Piper.

Students at NMHS produce the magazine every spring. It features original art, photography, prose and poetry from the student body. This isn't The Piper's first dance, having previously been honored for its excellence in writing, editing, and design, according to the NMHS school newsletter.

Currently, The Piper staff is working on the 2019 edition. NMHS English teacher Michelle Minto says, “Members of The Piper staff, and students in the Advanced Creative Writing course all have a hand in creating a product that we are all very proud of. Production began early this year. The result, we hope, will be a compilation of voices that represent this year’s NMHS student body.”
