New Milford Historical Society Exhibits Local Artist
Edith Newton was known for her raw and unvarnished depictions of New England farmhouses and interiors.

NEW MILFORD, CT -- The New Milford Historical Society is presenting, “Edith Newton: An Artist of History,” an exhibit based on the works of 20th century local artist Edith Newton, through June 30.
Newton was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1878. She left home at age 18 to study with the Art Students League in New York and at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. From there, she moved to New Milford. She died in 1964, a nationally recognized artist.
The exhibition will be on view in the Boardman Store Gallery at the museum. It is free and open to the public.

The New Milford Historical Society & Museum has both permanent and temporary exhibits on view at the Society, located just north of the New Milford Green at N° 6, Aspetuck Avenue. Hours are Tuesday - Friday from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., closed Sunday, and by appointment. (Click here to request yours, or call (860) 354-3069).
