New Milford Municipal Buildings Committee Reviews Firehouse Renovation Progress

New Milford's Municipal Buildings Committee reviewed firehouse renovations and approved Northville School roof invoices.

NEW MILFORD, CT — The Municipal Buildings Committee received an update July 2 indicating the Lanesville Fire Department renovation project is nearing completion and unanimously approved payment of outstanding invoices for design work on the Northville School roof replacement project.

Mark Haber, chairman of the Water Witch Building Facility, told the committee the Lanesville Fire Department renovation is in its final stages, with only a few punch-list items, landscaping work and required inspections remaining. He said paving and line striping have been completed, interior floors had been cleaned, and the facility is preparing for occupancy. Haber said an official ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 9 and that committee members will be invited. He added that firefighter training and onboarding activities are expected to begin later this month and that the project should be fully wrapped up by September, pending completion of landscaping and final reports.

Committee members congratulated Haber on the project's progress. Vice Chair Charles Bogie encouraged him to ensure the remaining work complies with the property's zoning approval, while Mayor Pete Bass praised the finished facility and thanked committee members for their support throughout the project.

The committee unanimously voted to add an update on the Northville School roof project to the agenda before discussing outstanding invoices related to the work. Chair Robert Beebe said the latest invoice from architect Silver Petrucelli brought the project to about 70 percent completion under its contract with the Board of Education. He noted that the committee had been unable to approve earlier invoices because of a lack of quorum at a previous meeting.

After reviewing the outstanding balances, members unanimously approved payment of the most recent $34,140 invoice along with previously unpaid invoices totaling $34,140 and $22,760. Thomas Pilla proposed expanding the motion to include all outstanding invoices after asking whether any had already been paid, and Katherine Francis agreed with the revision before the committee voted unanimously.
