New Milford Observatory Eyes Meteor Program
The sky watch is part of their "Second Saturday" program, open to the public.

NEW MILFORD, CT —The John J. McCarthy Observatory in New Milford will hold its next “Second Saturday Stars” program, “McCarthy Meteor Observation Program,” on Nov. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.
The McCarthy Observatory began observing meteors with the Leonid Meteor Storm of November 2001. During the 2002 Perseid meteor shower, the observatory determined the altitude of a meteor. For the Perseid meteor shower in 2013, the staff installed their first all-sky camera and which has been imaging the entire visible sky continuously ever since.
This spring McCarthy added a video all-sky camera and became part of the Sky Sentinel Meteor Network. Currently, currently the facility has two new cameras nearing completion and is planning to install the first network to monitor the skies over the Northeastern states for meteors and fireballs.
