New Milford Republican Chair Sues Mayor, Finance Chief over Alleged Misappropriation of Funds: Report

Michael Barnes claims money was misused in a school project.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Michael Barnes, chair of the New Milford Republican Party, has filed a lawsuit against Mayor David Gronbach and Finance Director W. Lee Palmer over alleged misappropriation of about $225,000 in the John Pettibone School renovation project.

The News Times reports that Barnes filed the lawsuit last week in Litchfield Superior Court, and claims the money was used without obtaining Board of Finance approval. The money came out of the town's Waste Management Landfill Settlement Fund.

Gronbach responded to the lawsuit in the below Facebook post, in which he claims Barnes is trying to bully him and Palmer.
