New Milford Residents Will Decide Whether to Make Road Private
At issue is an area of area of the road that only exists on maps.

NEW MILFORD, CT — The Town Council is leaving it up to the residents whether or not to make a section of Great Brook Road private, the News Times has reported.
At issue is an area of area of the road that only exists on maps. Two applicants whose land the area abuts would take control of the newly-taxable property.
Residents opposed to the change have expressed concern that removing town control of the road could create a usable thruway and open it for a development that would ruin their quiet cul-de-sac. Keeping control with the town would also, they say, ensure people had a place to hike in the area. One of the applicants has noted that people are traveling on his private property because the area of town road in question is actually a washed out gully.
