New Milford Town Council Revises Budget Proposal
Voters rejected their original proposal last week.

NEW MILFORD, CT -- The Town Council revised the budget downwards at a meeting Monday night, following voter rejection of the previous proposal last Tuesday. The $38.3 million town budget passed, but the schools’ $63.3 million budget failed. This sent the entire proposal back to Town Council.
The new proposal includes $38.1 million for the town, which is $102,000 less than approved on last week's referendum. The new proposal keeps the school budget at $63.3 million, but draws only around $496,000 from the undesignated fund, instead of the $1.2 million from the original proposal.
Net-net, this all adds up to a tax increase of about 2.6 percent, down from the rejected proposal of 3.87 percent.
