New Milford To Vote Again on the Budget Tuesday

It will be the third time the referendum goes before voters.

NEW MILFORD, CT -- Will the third time be the charm?

New Milford voters will head to the polls on Tuesday for another go at passing the budget. The previous two attempts failed when voters rejected the school portion of the Town Council's proposals.

The new budget proposes $63 million for the schools and $39 million for the town.

The latest edition sees a $300,000 cut on the school side from the previous proposal -- that's still $200,000 more than the current year.. The first two school budgets were identical, with all the cuts made on the town side.

There's an additional million dollars tossed atop the combined budgets for capital recurring items. These were not part of the previous proposals, but the Town Council has said the expenses are covered by recently awarded additional state revenue.
