Milford Wetlands Commission Continues Sullivan Farm Hearing
New Milford Inland Wetlands Commission continued a Sullivan Farm hearing and reviewed multiple development proposals.
NEW MILFORD, CT — The Inland Wetlands Commission on July 9 continued a public hearing on a proposal to repair eroded streambanks along Sullivan Farm Road while reviewing six development applications, accepting four new applications and approving several bond releases.
The commission unanimously voted to continue the public hearing for an application submitted by Garrett Meade for repairs to eroded streambanks near residences at 53-56 Sullivan Farm Road, until its Aug. 13 regular meeting.
The meeting began at 7 p.m. in the Loretta Brickley Conference Room at Town Hall. Chairperson Cathy Setterlin presided, with alternate members David Melycher, Angela Dimmitt and Thomas Lappala seated for absent commissioners. The meeting adjourned at 8:21 p.m.

Multiple applications reviewed
In addition to continuing the Sullivan Farm Road hearing, commissioners reviewed several pending wetland applications involving residential, commercial and municipal projects. The agenda included proposals for:
- Expansion of display and inventory areas and correction of site plan violations at 640 Kent Road.
- A new single-family home at 15 Brookview Lane.
- A proposal at 9 Pickett District Road, which remained tabled, involving a 15,000-square-foot building, paved parking for 24 vehicles, a loading area and outdoor storage.
- A three-phase improvement project at the Ellen Corsi/Merryall Community Center on Merryall Road, including invasive species removal, parking improvements, a patio entrance, reconstruction of entrance stairs and upgrades to an accessible ramp.
- A new single-family home at 3 Haviland Road Ext.
No formal votes on those applications were recorded in the meeting motions.

Four new applications accepted
The commission also received four new applications for future review:
- 139 Hine Road— Repair of the upper pond's stone dam façade, submitted by Thomas Rukan.
- 22 Erickson Road — Construction of an 8-foot-by-13-foot deck, submitted by Susan Luske.
- 1 Gallows Hill Road — Relocation of outdoor stone slab and processed stone storage, submitted by Artel Engineering Group LLC.
- Merryall Road — Roadway reconstruction and infrastructure replacement submitted by the Town of New Milford Department of Public Works.
Deck replacement approved administratively
Commissioners unanimously approved a duly authorized agent application for Russell Remodeling LLC to remove and replace an existing deck with a new 16-by-12-foot deck at 4 Two Rivers Lane.
Bond releases approved
The commission unanimously approved three bond releases recommended by Wetlands Enforcement Officer James Ferlow:
- $2,000 for a residential addition at 3 Apple Lane
- $3,000 for an addition at 180 Candlewood Lake Road North.
- $3,000 for outdoor improvements, including a driveway, retaining wall, outdoor shower and foyer addition, also at 180 Candlewood Lake Road North.
Other business
Commissioners unanimously approved the minutes of their June 11 meeting and authorized payment of two bills totaling approximately $1,125 for legal notices and legal services.
