Obituaries: ​Earl D. Williams Jr., 84, of New Milford

Earl D. Williams Jr. of New Milford, CT, passed away Monday September 18, 2017 at Danbury Hospital at the age of 84.He was born in Carmel, NY, on August 11, 1933 son of the late Earl D. Williams Sr. Mr. Williams graduated from Carmel High School in 1952, then joined the Navy and served during the Korean War.

On June 29, 1962 he married Dorothy Sweet in Mahopac, NY. They moved to New Milford twenty years ago after Mr. Williams retired from his job as a Laborer from Local 235 in Elmsford, NY. After retirement he never stopped working, always doing odd jobs and yard work. The only thing he loved more than hard work was his family.

Besides his wife Dorothy of New Milford, Mr. Williams is survived by his son Earl D. Williams III of Wappinger Falls, NY; daughters Karen Turco and her husband George and Jacqueline Gaynor and her husband Thomas both of New Milford, CT; sister Ruth Cox of Mahopac, NY and grandchildren Brittany, Kyle, Steven, Chelsea, Thomas and Gabrielle.

Calling hours will take place on Friday September 22, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm followed by a service at 5:00 pm at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. The interment will be private.Contributions in Mr. Williams memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
