Obituary: Joan Boehm Lopez, 85, of New Milford

NEW MILFORD, CT -- Joan Boehm Lopez passed away on May 12, 2018 at the age of 85.

A long-time resident of New Milford, Joan was born in New York, NY and raised in Oakdale, Long Island. Joan worked in various administrative positions over the years, including more than 25 years at Grolier, Inc. in Danbury.

Joan took great pride in her home and cherished gardening, needle work, spending time with friends and her "animals" – both wild and domesticated. She was an active member of the New Milford Historical Society, Gardening Club, the Needlework Guild and 'The Crew': a close circle of friends banded together for more than 65 years.

Joan is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, A. Peter Lopez, daughter Regina (Nina) Lopez Eddington, brothers Joseph and Donald Boehm and sister Patricia Mucci. Joan is lovingly remembered by her daughters Julie Lopez Sakowski (Mark) of Chapel Hill, NC and Susan Lopez Rosen (Thomas) of North Caldwell, NJ; her adored grandchildren: Hollyn Rosen Sabato (Steve), Andrew Eddington, Grant Rosen and Laney Eddington; sister Marianne Boehm, brother John Boehm; numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.

A graveside memorial service remembering Joan and Peter's lives will be held at the Upper Merryall Cemetary on Cherniske Road in New Milford at Noon on June 28.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Little Guild Animal Shelter, 285 Sharon Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall CT 06796.
