Results In for Third New Milford Budget Referendum
It was the third referendum to be paced before residents, who rejected two earlier proposed spending plans for fiscal 2018-19.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Voters on Tuesday approved an overall budget of about $102 million. Residents approved the school budget 1,713 to 1,262 and the town budget 1,785 to 1,188, as reported by The New Milford Spectrum.
It was the third referendum to be paced before residents, who rejected two earlier proposed spending plans for fiscal 2018-19. The new budget includes $39 million for the town and $63 million for the schools, $200,000 more than the current level.
Although the new budget allocated $300,000 less for schools than the previous rejected one, it is still $200,000 more than the current year.

There's an additional million dollars tossed atop the combined budgets for capital recurring items, compared to the first two proposals. These were not part of the previous proposals, but the Town Council has said the expenses are covered by recently awarded additional state revenue.
