Two Women Create "Tales of Love"
Benefit Performance by LoveArtPlay and The Wykeham Consort

Two Women Create “Tales of Love”
Matilda Giampietro, Director of the Wykeham Consort, (music teacher, vocalist and musician) of Washington, CT and Arlene Begelman, Director of LoveArtPlay, (stage director, teacher and dancer) of New Milford, CT, unite their specific arts and professionalism to create a concert piece called Tales of Love.
Ms. Giampietro had seen performances of an original work by LoveArtPlay, a fusion of music and poetry. It was called Written, Spoken, Sung; Poetry from Shakespeare to Maya Angelou and music that include James Taylor and Dylan. Most recently, Matilda saw LoveArtPlay perform The Vagina Monologues in downtown New Milford. “I was so excited. Since LoveArtPlay was also a professional non-profit arts organization, I offered the services of the Consort to do a benefit for them.”

Arlene Begelman said, “As we were working on this benefit event, both of us realized our passions were shaping another work entirely. This was by women, for women, about women, women who love, are in love and are often changed by their love. These were stories, tales created by the songs and music of the Consort over the years and now we had the rhythms of dance, text, and poetry. After a heated back and forth to find a name for the work, our friend, colleague, and dancer, Barbara Braverman, simply called it Tales of Love.
Tales of Love is to be premiered on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30pm at the Montessori School Theater in New Preston, CT. A reception is to follow the presentation. Tickets are $35 through Eventbrite. Proceeds will benefit the non-profit professional Global Music Education Organization S’Cool Scounds. S’Cool Sounds serves children without any access to arts and music education programs in their schools.
