Untimely Death Under Investigation At New Milford Lovers Leap State Park

Officials said a missing person was found deceased in the state park.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Authorities are investigating an untimely death Thursday at Lovers Leap State Park, officials said.

Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation Police responded to the park early Thursday morning following a missing person report, according to DEEP spokesperson Bill Flood.

The individual was later located deceased, Flood said.

New Milford police and EMS assisted at the scene, while DEEP is leading the investigation.

“There is no criminal aspect to the incident and there is no danger to the public,” Flood said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, Flood said.

The individual has not yet been identified.

Lovers Leap State Park has reopened following the incident.
