12th Annual Newtown Road Race Slated for Saturday, September 2nd

Newtown Prevention Council Kids Run to benefit Newtown Youth and Family Services and the 12th Annual Newtown Road Race 5K are coming up.

NEWTOWN, CT - From Newtown Youth and Family Services: The 12th Annual Newtown Road Race 5K and the Newtown Prevention Council Kids Run to benefit Newtown Youth and Family Services will be held on Saturday, September 2nd at Dickinson Park in Newtown with a 8 am start time. “We are very excited to be celebrating 12 years of community members running, walking and pushing strollers to help us achieve our mission and provide support services in Greater Newtown” says Executive Director Candice Bohr. “This is a family friendly event that kicks off the Labor Day festivities here in Newtown” says Matt Ariniello the organizer of this year’s race. New this year if you are unable to join us, you can race at home while still supporting NYFS through our virtual race.

The race features individual awards to the top female and male runners in each of the eight age brackets. During the race, parts of route 302 will be closed approximately from 7am-10am. To register for this year’s race visit our website at www.newtownroadrace.com or pick up a registration form at Newtown Youth Academy, Park and Recreation or our location at 15 Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook. Race packet pick up will take place on September 1st at Dickinson Park from 9 am to 6 pm. Packets are also available on race day. Same day Race Registration will begin at 7:15 am. The course is a certified 5K USATF course rolling through a scenic course in Newtown. T-Shirts are given to the first 500 runners and the first 100 Kids Race participants.
