2 Car Thefts Reported In Newtown

NEWTOWN, CT — Police are investigating two motor vehicle thefts that occurred in the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday.

The vehicles stolen were a 2018 Mazda CX-5 and a blue 2020 Audi Q3. The thefts are becoming increasingly common and in Newtown all stolen car reports involve keys being left in the car.

"This is not about victim bashing, but about getting the message out there, that your vehicle needs to be locked. We usually do recover these stolen vehicles in about 95% of the cases, but usually they are not found in a very favorable condition.," police said.
