Members of the Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee are pleased to announce the 2018 Labor Day parade will kick off on Monday, September 3rd, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Newtown. Floats, fire trucks, festive music and more! The parade has been a Newtown tradition for the last 57 years. Save the date and join us for this fun, family-friendly event, the ONLY Labor Day Parade in the state of CT!
This year we honor a beloved member of the community Ms. Eunice Laverty as Grand Marshal.
A longtime owner of BAGEL DELIGHT, Ms. Laverty is known to many as a pleasant, kind, caring, welcoming, “Gem of a Woman” and so much more.

Ms. Laverty starts each day (Including Christmas) at 5:00 a.m., opening her shop and preparing for the morning rush of steady customers who will flock to the aromas of fresh bagels, homemade salads, and the best-tasting lox this side of the US.
A retired Social Worker, Eunice has been operating Bagel Delight for 22 years and is a supporter of multiple organizations and town events. Selfless and giving from her heart, she is a humble woman to anyone with whom she comes in contact. Aligning with Ms. Laverty’s commitment to Newtown, our theme for this year’s Parade will be “Serving the Community.” It is a fitting tribute to Ms. Laverty’s hard work and dedication. (Just ask the kids at the Newtown Middle School).

It promises to, once again, be a great event. We invite you to be part of the fun, as an attendee, a participant, or a sponsor! The Newtown Labor Day Parade is an independent entity, a 501(c)(3) powered entirely by donations, sponsorships, and volunteer power! We are currently at the $20K mark with a goal to raise the $35K it takes to host the event. We truly appreciate all of our sponsors that help to make this event happen, but it is contributions of $25 or more that really help keep us marching!!!
