2022-23 Newtown Budget Referendum Tuesday

NEWTOWN, CT — The 2022-23 Newtown budget referendum is will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the Newtown Middle School Gymnasium at 11 Queen St.

"Pursuant to Conn. General Statutes Sec. 7-6, any person who is a registered voter in the Town of Newtown or who is a U.S. citizen assessed for at least $1,000 for Real Estate or Motor Vehicles on the 2021 Grand List for the Town of Newtown is qualified to vote at the Referendum," officials said in a statement.

The budget before voters on Tuesday calls for spending of $129 million, which could mean a tax increase of less than 1 percent, reported the News-Times.
