3 Newtown Kids Star in 'The Princess and The Pirates' Play to Benefit Irish Cultural Foundation
Three Newtown students star in this fun-filled musical play on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kids 5 and under are free.
NEWTOWN, CT-- Alex and Maria G. and Abby R. of Newtown, along with 11 other young thespians, will star in an original theater production on Saturday called, "The Princess and The Pirates," based upon The Legend of Princess Sheelagh from Irish folklore.
The tale follows Princess Sheelagh from Ireland to France and back as she goes to study at a convent. Along the way, her ship gets captured by Dutch pirate Gilbert Pike and clan and Captain Peter Easton has to fight to save her. The cast includes children from ages 4 - 12 years old.
The cultural center added a youth theater program to their offering of activities and events as a way to bring more families into the club.
"We think this is an awesome addition to our program and a great way to preserve Irish culture and history in our community," said Pam Fedigan, member of the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Foundation.
The play will be presented on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave., Danbury. Live Irish music will be played during intermission.

Events would include Irish language days, concerts, plays, games, lectures, book clubs and seisiún.
