44 Castle Hill Road Mansion Destroyed in Early Morning Fire: Report

Fire crews worked through the early morning hours to extinguish the blaze that destroyed an abandoned mansion on Castle Hill Road in Newtown

NEWTOWN, CT — A fierce fire destroyed an abandoned mansion early Wednesday morning at 44 Castle Hill Road in Newtown, according to Fox 61 News.

Crews were called to the scene at approximately 2 a.m. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

According to a post on Blogger, the 7,300 square foot property is set on 136 acres and was built in 1908. The property is set on 1,600 water frontage on Taunton Pond. The website states the home belongs to the Bridgeport Diocese.
